Improving the Orange County Community – One Family at a Time
One of the most meaningful ways to create change is to stay local—and the Adopt A Family Program here in Orange County shows how even the smallest changes can make a big difference in the community. Held by the national health care organization, Share Our Selves, the Orange County community comes together each year to support families and children who need a little extra support during the holiday season. The Adopt A Family Program is just one of so many incredible support systems the organization makes possible.
As their website explains, Share Our Selves is a “nationally recognized health center providing high quality, comprehensive safety net services to the Orange County community.” As a health center, SOS provides medical and dental care, comprehensive services, behavioral health services, legal aid, holiday programs, financial assistance, and seasonal support in a variety of ways across the country, all in efforts to serve low-income and homeless populations in Orange County. SOS is also recognized as one of 256 health centers in the country who provides nationally-recognized Healthcare for the Homeless. Championing a patient-centered medical approach, SOS “values the concept of the right person, the right treatment, at the right time,” through a variety of donation, volunteer, and health care services to make our communities healthier and happier.
A few highlights about the organization:
- 58,000 bags of groceries to families per year
- 60,000 patient visits in 2017
- Winner of Susan G. Komen Orange County, in support of women’s breast health, awarded 2015
- Awarded, in 2016, the CalOptima, in support of the SOS Dr. Robert & Dorothy Beauchamp Children & Family Dental Center
- Distributed nearly 1,400 bags of food in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, in November 2017
This year, SOS celebrates the 48th year of their annual Adopt A Family Program. Through this program, SOS and their volunteers provide support to families in need during the holiday season. Generous volunteers donate time and goods to offer the family they’ve adopted for the holidays gifts and food to make the season special. This year, SOS and the Adopt A Family Program will connect more than 1,500 families with children to donors. Families are recommended by Costa Mesa and Santa Ana organizations and schools.

Insight Investments is proud and excited to work with the Adopt A Family Program this winter. For the Christmas season, all divisions across Insight Investments are participating in getting wish list items for one adopted family with two adults and three children. It’s a time to spread holiday cheer and Insight Investments hopes to inspire continued community connections throughout the year.
